Return Journey
(to the I + to the We)

2nd edition

We listened to the system and that distanced us from our truth and from the collective. This double collection of poems explores (and celebrates) the steps of that journey home.

Double collection of poems?

This is a book with 2 front covers and 0 back covers. If you open it on one of its sides, you will find Journey back to the Self. If you turn it over and open it from the other side, you'll find the Journey back to the We.

The two collections of poems are placed in the centre of the book with a work by the visual artist Laia Noal which can be read from top to bottom or bottom to top.

The reason for this double journey, inwards to heal the wounds and return to our truth, but also towards the collective to question the inequalities that affect us, is simple: it is not enough to become strong, we have to become together. And vice versa: it is not enough to politicise ourselves on the outside if we have not 'decolonised' our inner voice.

Journey back to the Self

This side of the collection is dedicated "To all the people who kept silent about their truth, believing that appearing normal would save them. And they were not saved". The cover art is by Paola Becerra.

The journey begins with nostalgia for one's own body, which we abandon in order to survive in a culture that wants to live only in the head. It continues with the recognition of sadness, fear, rage... in its multiple layers. It goes through the question of who we are beyond our monsters, and culminates, as it could not be otherwise, with the love for oneself and for all that we were.

Journey back to the We

In the Journey back to the We the map is the others, the sorority, the coming together after having listened to an individualism that annihilates us. The cover photograph, by Veronica Ramiloreflects this perfectly.

This journey begins with It doesn't matter in which forest'.dedicated to people who have suffered an unexpected and inexplicable loss, to which we can only say "I am here". It continues to explore the role of emotions in oppression, from witch hunts to liquid society, using irony and humour, but also compassion and anger, to question the very foundations of our culture and its definition of what makes us human.
